Hey! I'm Liz, the owner of Onyx & Ivy. I specialize in natural lash health eyelash extensions and low maintenance grey blending dimensional hair color.
I have been in the beauty industry for over 15 years and have been a salon owner for 7 years. I am a happily married woman with three children and live on a hobby farm with chickens and goats.
I was not a typical born and bred hair stylist. Growing up, I had big curly hair that I never had any idea what to do with it and longed for straight hair! It wasn't until I was 21 when I felt the desire to see what cosmetology would bring. I enrolled into a local school with curiosity.
After completing cosmetology school, I was hired at an Aveda salon in Lansing where I spent my first 7 years in the industry. I completed advanced training in color and cut services. I learned from some of the best artists that Aveda has to offer. After stepping back for a year and a half to grow our family, I decided to get back behind the chair part time and close to home. The curiosity bug hit me again when I learned of eyelash extensions, So just like before, I went to a class because I couldn't shake that curiosity bug. I became a Certified Eyelash artist in 2016 and love the tedious behind the scenes work to create gorgeous eyelashes while focusing on natural lash health.
When I am not feeding my passion, I can be found on our homestead, homeschooling my children, playing with our many farm animals including chickens and goats, or tending our vegetable and herb gardens during the summertime.
